Accountant - Bookkeeping Specialist
Nicole Haner | TSG Tax Management

Nicole Haner’s passion for accounting began in high school when a teacher’s recommendation for a computer accounting course revealed her natural affinity for logical systems. She began her professional journey in 1996 with a real estate development and restaurant franchising firm, where she managed daily deposits for over 40 locations and oversaw complex inter-company loans.

Nicole earned an Associate’s degree in Business from Saddleback College in 2002, followed by a B.S. in Accounting from California State University, Long Beach in 2005. During her time at CSULB, she was an active member of the Accounting Society and served as the Co-Chair for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

After interning for a local CPA firm throughout college, she transitioned to a full-time role upon graduation. Between 2005 and 2010, she specialized in individual and business tax preparation and small business bookkeeping. In 2008, she launched her own bookkeeping and tax practice, notably winning a complex “innocent spouse” case with the IRS.

Her career evolved into the corporate sector at a public software development company (2011–2019), where she mastered process improvement and M&A integrations. She later served as a Senior Accountant/Controller for a private capital equipment company (2019–2021), where she successfully overhauled the monthly close process, reducing it from two weeks to just five days. After returning to the software industry to build out forecasting systems (2021–2023), she transitioned into consulting in 2024. As of 2026, she continues to provide high-level controller services for staffing agencies while expanding her private bookkeeping practice.

Outside of her professional life, Nicole enjoys getting creative with craft projects, attending concerts, and embarking on adventures with friends. At home, she loves relaxing with movie nights alongside her cats and spending quality time with her family.
